Castro’s Rainbow Flag is at half mast today - San Francisco November 5, 2008

Honestly, it’s such such a mixed day. It’s amazing that we elected our first black president. I had tears. And now, the Yes on Prop 8 folks are celebrating their hateful victory.

No on Prop 8 loses.

I just sat in front of my TV and watched some ahole tell me that they don’t discriminate against the LGBT people in California. I feel angry right now.  I watched a Latina woman with tears of joy hug her friend.  Please explain these tears of joy?  Are you so excited that I’m not going to eat your children  right now?  I never was!

Last week tears of joy rolled down as I watched the Harvey Milk film celebrate it’s Hollywood debut at the Castro theater with the red carpet and tons of stars and support.  Again a mixed feeling.   We celebrated the life and political work of Harvey Milk while we still have to remember him as a figure from the past.

For the first time, I feel like not being nice to my queer friend’s uber Christian parents that I’ve known for 10 years and with whom I have always been very friendly towards. I’m going to ask them why! I can’t stand around twiddling my thumbs in silence any more knowing that they flat out voted to discriminate against me.

And what the hell happened in Los Angeles! Yes is winning by a hair when it should have lost by a ton of fake Hollywood extensions!!

Champion Movie
I’ve mentioned her before, she’s been in Curve magazine, Arlan is a fan, her web banner is right above us staring you in the face, and she produces the hottest lesbian erotica around. Shine Louise Houston just wrapped her fourth feature film on Sunday starring a real MMA fighter who happens to also be the champion wrestler on the popular site Ultimate Surrender under the name of Syd Blackovich.

Champion Movie

Champion is a queer boxing movie packed with 20 minutes of tightly crafted drama woven into hot sex scenes to make it an hour long feature film. It is not due to be released until January 2009, but you can check out the film rushes and photos at the film’s official blog site.

5 Fun Facts about Pink and White

1. About 50% of the couples that star in the movies are real couples.

2. All the crew are queer folks from the community.

3. Shine snort laughs while she directs.

4. The main videographer has been female ejaculated (squirted) on 4 times in 4 years. Once a year baby!

5. More than half of the models are doing porn for the first time and only do it with Pink and White.

Coming of age drama Water Lilies - San Francisco International Film Festival May 6, 2008

While I was unpacking from sunny Las Vegas and settling into the chilly bone winter-I mean spring/early summer of San Francisco, I was too busy trying to get the Lesbian pool party pictures off my now defunct digital camera to realize I missed the one movie I was planning on attending on a date with myself. Lesbian coming of age dramas are my favorite genre and this film Water Lilies, by new French feature director Céline Sciamma looks really wet and really good.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Check out the trailer, we have synchronized swimming, sultry locker room situations, groups of girls, groups of boys, water and flesh. It looks like the perfect date movie. Innocent yet packed with subtle drama and sexuality. I’m sure this will get a theatrical release and all that - so keep an eye out for it, meanwhile I’ll continue trying to get the lesbian pool party photos off of my camera.

Beth Lisick and Tara Jepson give their time to Indie Porn - San Francisco April 29, 2008

Filed under: Hot Situation - San Francisco — admin @ 3:04 pm

Tara and Beth

No, they did not star in a film. Get your mind out of the gutter. They only performed the other night at a benefit for an Indy Porn company named No Fauxxx that is raising money to shoot their first feature. (I know it sounds weird that a porn company has to raise extra money to shoot a feature. This is San Francisco not the San Fernando Valley.) Or you might know them as Carole Murphy and Mitzi Fitzsimmons from their newer short film Diving for Pearls about two older ladies losing their marbles in communal hot baths.

They are as funny as your blue haired, caked on makeup, diamonds and pearls wearing grandmother. I kinda feel at home when I watch them perform. They’re smart, sarcastic, shy and the way they think is in fact innovative which happens to be the name of the award they won at a festival. Most Innovative Short at the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in 2005. . I feel innovative is a good word to describe them and all their feats of writing, performing, movie making and Indy Porn money raising.

Last I heard Beth Lisick was in NY touring with Sister Spit (Michelle Tea and cohorts) and recently released her new book Helping Me Help Myself.

The Front Porch Restaurant - San Francisco April 18, 2008

Filed under: Hot Situation - San Francisco — admin @ 9:43 am

Bernal Heights Neighborhood What’s the difference between southern American food and Caribbean Soul food?  Any foodies out there?  Well, my response is Sarah Kirnon the chef and co-owner of the restaurant the Front Porch - she has all the answers.     Bernal Heights NeighborhoodShe’s the one on the left in case you were confused.  (Sorry, we look funny.  The photographer forgot tell us she was taking photos during the video interview)Hot Situation travel visited the Front Porch this past Sunday and learned about Caribbean style soul food from a Barbados native, why they chose name the Front Porch (rocking chairs anyone?), and why the restaurant seems to be a hot spot for the ladies.  We’re still not sure if it’s Sarah herself or the magic she works with her hands….it must be the combination. Check back for the San Francisco Hot Situation video travel guide this June.
