Its okay to want to be on the L Word

The L Word’s Guinevere Turner at Opening Night Party of LGBTQ Cinema - San Francisco April 15, 2008

Guinevere Turner
‘In a gala evening celebrating the achievements of women filmmakers
specializing in lesbian-gay-bisexual-transperson-queer cinema, the 2007 San
Francisco Women’s Film Festival fills up 12 Galaxies with outstanding
films, Q&As with directors, dancing, catering from High Art Catering and
a live DJ. Special guest Guinevere Turner has appeared in films “Go
Fish,” “Chasing Amy,” “Dogma” and more, and co-wrote “American Psycho,”
“The Notorious Bettie Page,” and the television series, “The L Word.”‘ - SF Women’s Film Fest Blog

Sigh….Guinevere Turner. She is one of my heroes in queer filmmaking and acting. And she’s beautiful. She did an artist talk this past Saturday at the SF LGBT center and shared tidbits about her newest project; a TV series from writer-director Amber Sharp that captures the lives of several people in a Los Angeles apartment complex. Kinda sounds like Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City or Beverly Hills 90210. But now they’re all hella gay! Yay.

This is a still from her newest short film Hung. I wanted to share the trailer for her other short film Hummer with you as well. But I can’t seem to find trailers for them. Excuse me, Guinevere Turner, I met you at the Lexington Club this last year and I was hoping you would put up some of the trailers for your short films on youtube so I can blog about how amazing you are. I was the girl with the big curly fro, thanks. I’ll be looking out for them.

Lynne T. from Lesbians on Ecstasy DJ’s Hot Pants - San Francisco April 12, 2008

Lesbians on Ecstasy DJ, originally uploaded by shaevoyuer.

When I asked Chelsea Starr how she would describe her club Hot Pants in one sentence, she didn’t even use the whole sentence. “Sexy,” she says. Hot Situation Travel partied at Hot Pants last night with Chelsea Starr, Lynne T. from Lesbians on Ecstasy, DJ Cari Campbell, and danced it up with Jenna Riot. I’m not going to give away too much - you’ll have to wait to for the video to come out. But I will drop one little secret I found out in our interview with Chelsea - Starr is not really her last name. But there’s a lot more to it than that.

Arlan and her tenthousand people - Hello! What about San Francisco? March 25, 2008

I just checked out Arlan’s new website, www.tenthousandpeople.com, and was impressed again by her creativity.  She is attempting to meet 10,000 people in person in order to raise funds for her independent magazine Interlude.  She plans to do this all over LA, San Diego and Chicago.  I have one question Arlan.  What about San Francisco!?    I could hook you up girl.  You need a personal tour guide (me) to take you to all the spots where we can make this happen. You would go home with photos of hella hot SF folks (and maybe some cash.)  We could get dressed up and go to Mecca - the snazzy lesbo bar in the Castro and set up a booth.  A kissing booth maybe?  You know how to get in touch with me.  I’m serious. You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey (and maybe me and my badass San Francisco Crew) March 24, 2008

Why did I just find out about this game?! OurChart, where was the personal invitation. I love re-enactments. I have been meaning to do some re-enactments from season 4 in order to convince the world that I should be on the next season of L Word, but thus far I’m all talk and no action.

If I had another week to get a crew together, it would ask Rocco (aka Katastrophe), Jenna Riot, Chelsea Starr, Michelle Tea, and myself. Rocco and Jenna are amazingly loud and gregarious and can throw down the quips when necessary. Michelle can share eloquent dialogue of support and empathy, while Chelsea could be the wide eyed beauty in trouble.

And this is funny OurChart. The other two scenes are girls getting all up on each other! You perverts. You just want girls on stage doing a strip show. Of course, it is a good idea. For these scenes, I would gather the sexy girls from the Crashpadseries.com. I know Jiz and Shawn would do this scene in a heartbeat.

Support Gay Marriage - On a Corporate public advertisement? March 20, 2008

Support gay marriage advertisementWhoa, what’s going on here. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a progressive political message on a public corporate advertisement. Yes, public. This one was actually in a Bart train in San Francisco, and right before that I saw one in the station that said, “end the war.” This company, Credo Mobile, promotes super green living, is partnered with Working Assets, and apparently is political.  Brave I say.

Hmmm.  And I like the tree logo.
